AWOE MAGAZINE PUBLISHERS REPORT
ROLLING WITH THE NEW NEWSBOYS
(November/December 2009)

How does one express God’s love to thousands of people crammed together at a county fair? Through music, fellowship and sharing there heart to help souls around the world with everyday needs, This Is How We Roll Tour took us there with REACH at the Pima County Fair in Tucson, AZ Halloween night.
The Newsboys brought four bands and one message that night: we need to reach the spiritual and financial poverty stricken people of the world today. In conjunction with Global Tribe they took a suggested donation of $10 at the gate to help build homes with fresh water, electricity, pastoral care and a biblical education.
On the local level they collected food for Gospel Rescue Mission based out of Tucson Arizona an outreach that helps the homeless and those who suffer with addictions. Gospel Rescue Mission helps men, women, and children meet their spiritual, educational and job related needs.

Whether you attended for the music or just to support a great cause The Newsboys had something for everyone. The night started out with Bread of Stone who sang a new song from their upcoming unnamed album and shared their hearts about their upcoming Thanksgiving Trip to Indonesia, then Me In Motion a great band from Nashville, TN came out rocking like there was no tomorrow. Followed by Seventh Day of Slumber who not only had a great show, but the lead singer Joseph Rojas, shared his personal testimony. Godless, broken, drug addicted and suicidal, Rojas bared his soul to the crowd, it was heart wrenching, but real something that many could relate to.
Needless to say three bands later the new Newsboys took the stage with Michael Tait. If you had any doubts that he could step into the position of Peter Furler, he demolished it that night. Tait didn’t make it about the performance, but about Christ. As high energy as he was dancing, sliding and crazy rocking he was steady on his love of the Newsboys. He even reminded us that way back in the day DC Talk knew the Newsboys and they’ve been brothers in Christ for a long time.
Once Tait & The Newsboys began rocking the stage with a phenomenal performance the crowd went crazy. The worship was electric and the spirit among the people was unified. We were there to praise God, support a great cause and to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. By the end of the night around 200 people gave their lives to Christ and many financially partnered with the Global Tribe in their mission to go throughout the world helping those in need.
If I had to breakdown THIS IS HOW WE ROLL TOUR I would have to say that when you give God the reigns, he will take you where he wants you to go. I believe that the Newsboys are going with God, not people, or what’s popular, but with what God has placed in their hearts. In the process they’ve included Bread of Stone, Me In Motion and Seventh Day of Slumber, bands that are God driven and willing to go where there’s souls. If they’re coming to a town near you round up all your friend’s, gather people from the streets, spread the word and be prepared to have your heart stirred and to see God do amazing things.
